Guild Going’s On

At today’s guild meeting, the first thing that caught my eye was this lovely tote bag. It was an unusually slow Sew Day probably because we recently finished our raffle quilt. After a brief business meeting, we went straight to Sew & Tell.

Sew & Tell

First up, was Bird Watcher’s. She began with the small bird squares, then found the tree panel and added on from there. I love the stars in the sky.

This lady showed an airplane quilt she made for her grand nephew’s graduation. It’s called Wild Blue Yonder. He’s going into aviation.

This woman explained that she is learning how to use her embroidery machine and showed us a small wall hanging she made.

The next lady showed the same small wall hanging. They get the patterns from a block of the month. She also showed a couple bags. Her granddaughter likes cats.

Next, the tote bag that caught my eye on the way in, made an appearance. The bag had several bags in it. The bags were: The Holland Pouch, The Retreat Bag, The Zipper Pouch, The Wonder Clip Bag, The IPad Bag, The IPad Cord Bag and The Metro Bag. All the patterns were found online.

This woman wore her Sew & Tell. It’s the logo for the Maine Quilts show this year. The theme of the quilt show is All Roads Point to Maine and workshops will focus on the Mariners Compass. Tee shirts will be available at the show in a variety of styles and colors.

This lady showed a work-in-progress, WIP.

We ended the meeting by beginning the Ugly Fabric Lap Quilt Challenge. Anyone who wanted to participate was asked to bring one yard of the ugliest fabric in our stash. You start with your yard, tear it in half, keep half and then pass the other half to your right. Then repeat until the last piece gets to you.

Here’s my pile of ugly’s. Notice the bottom brown one is only about 3” x 4”. I better get out my thinking cap!

And of course there’s still time to get your Raffle Quilt tickets. Tickets are $1.00 each or a book of six for $5.00. The raffle quilt will be on display at Majestic Touch quilt shop in St. Agatha and tickets available for sale. Tickets will also be available during our local quilt show at Daigle’s Furniture Store in Madawaska August 8, 9 and 10. Or, send me a PM and let me know if you want to buy some tickets. The drawing is September 3, 2024 during our monthly meeting.
