Sunny with a Side of Meatballs

The next time I went to the log home it was a beautiful sunny day. It was also cold, about 20° with a windchill of about 2°. For lunch I made meatballs, scalloped cheesy potatoes and date squares.

Aust had mentioned he wanted meatballs. I’ve made them before, but I try not to make the same thing each time for a little variety. Since there’s an endless list of meatballs recipes; Swedish meatballs, sweet and sour meatballs, Italian meatballs, teriyaki meatballs, Spanish meatballs, porcupine meatballs and more; I decided on plain meatballs and used the juices to make a little au jus, half gravy for them, mainly so they wouldn’t dry out in the crockpot.

Aust didn’t think he wanted them with anything on them. M to the rescue!! She had some ketchup and ‘fixed’ them so Aust could dip them in the ketchup. They must have been good, he came back for seconds!!

Back to work after lunch.

Ash helping with the next wall.

Next clue.

You may recall if you’ve been following the blog, a couple of weeks ago Aust bartered two boxes of sawdust with Grammie for 48-eggs from their chickens.

Grammie showed up with three-dozen eggs and seemed surprised that Aust gave her two boxes of sawdust.

The eggs are a variety of sizes and colors based on the breed of the chicken.

Some lights and outlets going in.

Getting ready to skate.

Nice and warm inside.

Pellet check, email check …

Sunset game as I was leaving.
